October Games with EXTRA Points Sunday Brunch & Unit Game: October 25th* Friday Halloween Potluck & Unit Game: October 30th* *All EXTRA Point games — No Extra Charge! Your SCBC underwrites the fee. Surfs Up Sectional - Oct 10 & 11 The tournament returns to the Santa Cruz Bridge Center. The sectional is a great opportunity to win your silver points on the road to Life Master. There's a two-session Open Pairs on Saturday, play either session or both. For players with 500MPs or less, there's a separate section with morning and afternoon sessions. Sunday is stratified swiss teams. Tournament preregistration is strongly suggested as registered players have seating priority. Use this link to access the SCBC Event Registration system. SCBC Website Has New Home New website address: scbridge.org. The previous address, santacruzbridge.org, is now retired. Bookmarks and links using the old address will no longer work. You will get a message to use scbridge.org. The SCBC website has been running at  scbridge.org since May without issue. New ISP and Domain: The SCBC website is now hosted by a new Internet Service Provider (ISP). This change was needed to expand email service, upgrade system software, increase storage capacity and improve service levels. Or check who is looking for a partner in the next Sunday Brunch? How about reviewing which dishes are being brought to a potluck? Take a look at the Surf's Up report as an example. 2027-2028 Board of Directors Election Every year approximately half of the Unit 550 Board of Directors is elected for a two-year term. Six of the nine current board members have agreed to stand for an additional term. Two members have completed the first year of their two year term. There is one vacancy. The Nomination Committee, John Wesoloski, Robert Johnson and Farol Henderson, is looking for members to join board for the 2027-2028 term. You do not need to be an expert player or a long-time member of the Santa Cruz Bridge Center (Unit 550). Your ideas and enthusiasm are all that is required. The Board deals with all aspects of running the Santa Cruz Bridge Center to create an overall bridge experience for our members which is entertaining and educational while maintaining a friendly, competitive environment. More information about board positions and their responsibilities and duties may be found on the SCBC website under SCBC Info. Here's a link to the document. The deadline for accepting nominations for the official ballot is Monday, October 12th; write-in candidates are also accepted. A member has come to the board asking to stand for a position. Should there be no other candidates, the slate of seven will be elected by acclamation, as specified in Section 7.5(a) of Unit 550 Bylaws, unless 5 members of Unit 550 request in writing (or email) a formal election. Contact any member of the Nominating Committee to to learn more or to have your name included as a candidate for election to the 2026-2027 Board of Directors. Halloween Party & Game - Friday, Oct 30 Come to our Halloween Party on Friday, October 30 in your favorite costume. There's going to be TREATS (extra points) and TRICKS.

Unit 550 Mission: The Santa Cruz Bridge Center (SCBC), Unit 550 of the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL), promotes the game of bridge and supports bridge clubs running games. The SCBC provides a pleasant and fun environment for learning and playing bridge.

Newcomer Liaison: On behalf of our bridge community, it is my honor to extend a warm welcome to new members. My name is Shamim Formoso, your Newcomer Liaison. (see Shamim's Bio) This role makes integrating into the Santa Cruz Bridge Center (SCBC) community smoother by having a go-to-person for you. I'm looking forward to meeting you and being your contact at the bridge center for questions about games, programs, events, learning resources, culture and more.

Some are open to players of all levels, termed "Open Games", while others are reserved for newcomers, novice and/or intermediate players. Contact us at info@scbridge.org with questions or partner requests. Clicking Schedule lists the regular schedule. Clicking Calendar displays game time, level, table fee for games and classes.
